CUISINE: KERALA

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups papaya grated ( 1cup 250ml)
  • 2 cups grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 5 – 6 peeled shallots
  • 4 medium green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 broken dry red chillies
  • 1 strip curry leaves
  • salt
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a pan heat oil and temper mustard seeds.
  2. Add dry red chilly and curry leaves.
  3. Then add grated papaya, carrots and mix well with some salt.
  4.  close the pan using lid and cook for 15mins in medium flame.
  5. In a mixer grinder, crush the shallots, cumin, shredded coconut and green chillies (just press pulse on your mixer grinder).
  6. Put the crushed ingredients into the cooked veggies and mix well.
  7. Cook for another 5 mins to remove the raw taste of crushed ingredients.
  8. serve hot with your steamed rice.

In a pan heat oil and temper mustard seeds.

Add dry red chilly and curry leaves.

Then add grated papaya, carrots and mix well with some salt.

NOTES:
  • Try to use pure coconut oil to get the authentic flavour.
  • You can use 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
  • Don’t grind the coconut finely (just crush).
